La Spezia is the largest city that overlooks the Bay of La Spezia, giving it the name. Actually it is known worldwide as the Bay of Poets – Golfo dei Poeti. The first who use this name was in 1910, the writer Sem Benelli, which in San Terenzo (picture) wrote his masterpiece “The dinner of mockery“. Benelli was inspired by the fact that over the centuries many poets and artists had lived in the villages of the Gulf. One of the most famous and incisive was the writer Percy Bysshe Shelly, who in 1822 lived at Villa Magni, upsetting the small community of San Terenzo and dying just off the coast that he loved so much. But also the poet Lord Byron and the writer David Herbert Lawrence stayed here and many artists have chosen and still choose this part of Liguria for their holidays. The Bay of Poets contains a story so full of romance, tragedy and art, and  with its villages and the rugged coastline, is really a unique bay. La Spezia, Tellaro, Lerici, Portovenere, Palmaria island have many things to tell, to discover and to share. We’ll try to do it every week, discovering all the beautiful places, where CABBdesign was born and where it finds his inspiration every day.
